Directions for Mixing: Gently shake or stir one part of powdered GME into two parts of warm water (A part is a teaspoon, tablespoon, or cup.) Do not mix more GME than can be consumed in 24 hours. Do not use a blender. Reconstituted GME should be refrigerated.
Directions for Feeding: All puppies should receive their mother s milk for at least 2 days, if possible. Colostrum milk gives extra nutrition and temporary immunity against some diseases. Warm reconstituted GME to room or body temperature before serving. Feed puppies 2 tablespoons (30mL) of liquid GME per 4 ounces (115g) of body weight. The daily feeding rate should be divided into equal portions for each feeding. Puppies' needs will vary and this amount may have to be increased or decreased, depending on the individual. Young and/or weak puppies may need to be fed reconstituted GME every 3 or 4 hours. Older puppies do well when fed reconstituted GME every 8 hours. Weigh the puppy daily to assure adequate feeding. Consult your veterinarian for additional advice. The PetAg 2 oz. (60mL) or 4 oz. (120mL) Small Animal Nurser is suited for feeding most puppies. When puppies are old enough to lap, begin offering reconstituted GME in a saucer. During the 6th week, mix reconstituted GME with Esbilac 2nd Step Puppy Weaning Food. Use of GME and 2nd Step will allow the puppy to be gradually switched to solid food.
